Apple's powerful moviemaking package Final Cut Express now supports the latest AVCHD cameras, features an open format Timeline, provides iMovie '09 compatibility, and offers sophisticated effects and filters. What a piece of good news.

Form time to time, I was wondering what the point of starting a project with iMovie is if so much of your work is lost when it's moved to Final Cut Express (FCE). Now, I understand that it only makes sense if you want to use iMovie's simple interface to create a very rough cut of your movie before fine-tuning it with Final Cut Express. Most people who just start to use and people who have been long with FCE will be comfortable enough to work with it from start to finish.

With Final Cut Express's other new features comes, You can now mix video in different formats all on the same timeline, without having to render any of the clips before playing them (for example, mixing standard-definition DV video, high-definition HDV video from a tape-based camera, and AVCHD video from a flash-based camera in the same project).

Nothing God creates perfect and FCE has its own downsides as well. Final Cut Express doesn't support all video formats , Besides DV, HDV, AVCHD and iMovie 09 compatible formats, none of the regular video formats like MPG, AVI, WMV, 3GP, MP4, FLV, MKV, RMVB,RM, TOD, MOD, ASF, VOB can be supported. And FCE doesn't edit to tape, doesn't do batch capture or export, and doesn't have some advanced color-correction features. While these are key capabilities to both professionals, amateurs probably miss some of them.

Final Cut Express don't always process tasks the way other Mac OS X applications do, so Final Cut Express may bog down all but the most powerful computers when working on complex projects. Final Cut Express converter is a Mac friendly software program that initially designed to work with FCE.

Final Cut Express Converter is able to convert almost all video/audio formats for workable with FCE. Sometimes you might shoot some video clips and need to import to FCE to cut and paste, but find the video can?
